The loss of the skate park and the park in an area with high numbers of young people and few public spaces for them to play in is significant. ACORN data suggests that Greenwich school children are, on average, more likely to be more deprived than the average for England.· Around two in five Greenwich primary school pupils live in Hard Pressed areas (39.7%)compared to 24.4% nationally.Around two in five Greenwich secondary school pupils live in Hard Pressed areas (38.1%) compared to 24.4% nationally. Over half of all children living in the borough come from low income household and Woolwich Riverside has the highest levels of deprivation in the area. Many live in high density housing with few places to play safely. The Skate Park is a valuable asset for families in this area . The issue of play facilities for young people will be more pressing over the next years when the population of young people in these wards is predicted to increase significantly from 2011 to 2021 (2,975 to 4, 452(M) and 2,822 to 4, 106 (F) and by almost 25% across the borough. Where are these children going to play? The Woolwich Town Centre Masterplan has a very brief section on Open Space stating section on open spaces says

    “The recently improved General Gordon
Square provides an important open space
at the eastern end of Powis Street and
begins a key link to the riverside, through
    the Royal Arsenal. Future developments
should take account of this important open
space within the town centre and ensure
    that its potential is maximised.

Is this going to be open to young people to play on bikes and Skateboards? I doubt it.
